Non-surgical, non-invasive system

IDD Therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive system of therapy that usually doesn’t involve the use of pain medications. It is considered a safe, painless, relaxing, and even quite comfortable treatment.

Therapy will often consist of 20 to 30 treatment sessions that take a month or a month and a half. Dr. Kal, our top Woodstock chiropractor, performs each of the procedures within a patented intervertebral decompression device. Our Woodstock chiropractor specializes in the care of back pain. Treatment sessions will often last for 30 minutes.

A team of renowned chiropractors, neurologists, orthopedists, and neurosurgeons developed IDD Therapy to heal and rehabilitate damaged structures of the spine using a unique set of medical treatment programs.

The validation of the protocol used in IDD Therapy happened after these lower back specialists conducted several clinical studies that showed remarkable results. A crucial part of this medical treatment involves the use of a patented orthopedic decompression device, known as the Spina System IDD®. It helps to promote self-healing through the general decompression of the spine.

How Does IDD Therapy Work?

IDD Therapy uses a mechanical spinal decompression treatment to relieve persistent lower back and neck pain, which usually result from trapped nerves in the leg or arm, caused by damage to the intervertebral discs. This approach is non-surgical, non-invasive, and, often, doesn’t involve any pain medications.

The use of a computer-controlled approach allows for isolation of each bone in your back to distract (draw apart) the vertebrae surrounding an injured disc. As a result, the treatment provides static, intermittent, and cycling forces to reduce the strain on specific spinal segments. These might be in either the neck or lower back and worn, damaged, or bulging discs are the most likely cause of the symptoms.

Woodstock IDD Therapy decompresses (takes the pressure off) a slipped or prolapsed disc to alleviate the pain and numbness of any trapped nerves while stretching the soft tissues. Therefore, relieving pain caused by muscle spasm and improving spine mobility to allow the natural healing mechanisms of the body to operate more efficiently, without the need for more invasive procedures such as surgery or spinal injection.

What Does IDD Therapy Involve?

Our Woodstock IDD Therapy is not only safe and painless, but it’s comfortable and relaxing as well. The treatment procedure involves a gentle ‘pumping’ action that promotes the diffusion of nutrients, water, and oxygen into the injured disc area. This is required to allow it to heal naturally.

The gentle increase in the distraction over the course of the therapy can promote the retraction of a herniated or elastic core of the intervertebral disc. This relieves irritation around the surrounding nerves to reduce the pain drastically without using any drugs.

What Does IDD Therapy Achieve?

This progressive, innovative, and comprehensive treatment reduces pain and achieves long-term healing by:

  • Improving spinal mobility
  • Releasing pressure on trapped nerves and discs
  • Rehydrating and enhancing the healing of your discs
  • Relaxing muscle spasm – the common cause of lower back pain
  • Taking the strain off spinal structures
