Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock for Lower Back and Neck Pain.

Do you have lasting neck and lower back pain and other related symptoms? You understand how it can be disruptive to your life. You may not think of anything else except finding effective pain relief. You should go for Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock (IDD).

Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock (IDD)  is a non-surgical and non-invasive intervention modality with a high success rate of 86-92% when treating patients suffering from discogenic (originating in the intervertebral discs) disease-related pain.

The therapeutic machine, product of years of research and development, was designed to treat patients with traumatic injuries to their cervical and lumbar spines.

The treatment procedure involves the creation of a vacuum (negative pressure) phenomenon in the intervertebral disc space.  With time, Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock promotes the regression of herniated disc or bulging disc, thus relieving pain related to compression of your nerve root.

A self-healing process will take place resulting in a vital change in the pressure surrounding your intervertebral disc through a cycling action of the therapeutic machine.  Fresh nutrients, oxygen, and blood flow into your injured disc space, while the by-products of metabolic breakdown are removed.

Most patients treated using Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock can return to active, healthy lifestyles, without any further intervention.  However, patients with chronic pain find it essential to return to be regularly treated on a preventative basis.

Patients with lower back pain usually can be treated with Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock therapy.  Dr. Kal uses long, low-level continuous distraction treat muscle sprain and strain.  Chronic lower back pain and acute disc herniation are treated using the right protocols.

The following conditions can be treated with IDD Therapy:

  1. Herniated or Bulging Discs
  2. Degenerative Disc Disease
  3. Posterior Facet Syndrome
  4. Sciatica
  5. Generalized Lower Back Pain
  6. Chronic Headaches

How Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock Work?

IDD therapy can distract (pull apart) the target areas of your spine. This takes the pressure of a bulging or injured disc, allowing it to heal naturally. When an area of your spine is decompressed, it relieves the pain that muscle spasm causes and frees the trapped and irritated discs and nerves.

IDD therapy improves the movement and absorption of nutrients and fluids in your disc space. These nutrients and fluids are important for disc health. Furthermore, it stretches stiff ligaments and muscles to restore mobility and flexibility to your spine.

How Is IDD (Spinal Decompression) Therapy Done?

You’re fully clothed during IDD therapy. The chiropractor fits you with a harness around your trunk and another around your pelvis. You either lie facing up or facing down on a computer-controlled table. The chiropractor operates the computer, customizing Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock to your needs.

Treatment last about 30 to 45 minutes and you may need 20 to 28 treatments over 5 to 7 weeks. Before or after IDD therapy, you may have other treatments, such as:

  • Heat or cold therapy
  • Ultrasound (uses sound waves to produce heat and promote self-healing)
  • Electrical stimulation (electric current causes muscle contractions)

Contraindications to IDD Therapy include:

  • Spine Instability
  • Severe OsteoporosisVertebral Fractures
  • Spondylolysis
  • Spondylolisthesis (Grade 2 or higher)
  • Unstable post-surgical conditions
  • Any surgical hardware
  • Recent Vertebral Fusions
  • Infectious or inflammatory conditions
  • Neoplastic conditions

Preparation

Dr. Kal, our top chiropractor, takes a detailed history of each patient, followed by a thorough physical examination. The chiropractor addresses specific attention to the musculoskeletal injury patterns that are unique with every patient, as well as the neurologic status of the patient.

The Woodstock chiropractor will order radiologic studies, including X-rays and CT or MRI´s Scans if a patient has been experiencing radicular (radiating from one area to another) pain. Once Dr. Kal evaluates the radiologic studies and physical examination, he will make a clinical decision regarding the spinal segment(s) that needs decompression.

Before the Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock begins, the chiropractor pre-treats the patient using electrotherapy to reduce paravertebral (along your spine) muscular spasms.  Following this, Dr. Kal initiates the IDD therapy process itself.

If desired, you may wear stereo headphones to listen to relaxing music during the therapy sessions.

Lumbar Treatment

For lumbar-related injuries, the chiropractor fits the patient with a pelvic and upper harness system.  The patient then steps on the treatment table that’s slowly lowered to a horizontal position.

The chiropractor lays a pillow under the head of the patient and bolsters support the ankles and knees.  He attaches the pelvic harness to the Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock machine and attaches the chest harness the table.

Once the Woodstock chiropractor secures all the harnesses, he or she initiates a computer generated program tailored to correct your injury pattern.  Gentle pulling occurs at an angle necessary to distract (pull apart) your spinal segment that has been injured.

The pulling becomes gradually greater until the correct level has been reached for effective therapeutic intervention.  The tension weight will increase and decrease rhythmically throughout the 25 minutes that a patient spends on the treatment table.  The process is quite relaxing for many patients, and most fall asleep.

Cervical Treatment

Cervical therapy starts with a patient in a lying position, comfortably resting in a padded traction device placed under the head that firmly supports the neck and head.  The angle of the patient´s neck and the head is calibrated to address his or her cervical injury pattern.

Gentle rhythmic contractions start and continue for twenty minutes. Once again, during the therapy, a patient drifts off to sleep frequently due to the relaxing nature of this treatment.

Post Treatment

After both cervical and lumbar treatments, the chiropractor ices the treated areas for 15 minutes to reduce irritation that may have occurred whole with Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock therapy.  This entire process promotes self-healing.

The patient usually undergoes the first 10 sessions over the first 2 weeks, i.e., Monday to Friday.  Experience has shown that patients obtain most benefit during the initial sessions daily.  At this time, the chiropractor instructs the patient to rest as much possible and gives him or her a lumbar support belt to wear after every treatment for many hours.

Following the initial 10 treatments, the chiropractor usually changes the schedule to 3 times a week for the next 2 weeks.  The Woodstock chiropractor implements physical therapy half-way through the process to mobilize the adjacent soft tissue and re-educate the body mechanics of the patient.

Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock

Spinal Decompression Therapy Woodstock Therapy provides a safe and effective method to treat pain originating from neck and lower back injuries.  In clinical studies, this therapy has shown to normalize the patient´s reflex, the range of motion and gait disturbances, reduce pain, improve motor and sensory loss, and reduce the need for pain medications.  The cost of a successful IDD therapy is much less than the cost of surgery.
